My first Creative Team!

So, I finally took the plunge that I've been wanting to for the past 2 years - I sent in an application to be on a Creative Team (CT) for a digiscrap designer. I was so honored when she wrote back and invited me to join. I am now creating layouts gleefully for Theresa at Simple Girl Scraps! I've been playing catch up so that I can kind of get a sense of how things work in CT-world, so have busted out 3 layouts in 1 day! I know I won't be able to keep up with that pace, but I feel good about having some layouts advertising Theresa's designs floating around the digiscrap world now :)

My Pets

Time again for another Digi-Dare that has caught my eye! This time the dare was to create a page about pets. ha! This is something I definitely had in my "to-do" pile, so what better time to create one than now!? Here's my creation:
kit used: Ziska “Bring on the Sun”
background paper: Shabby Princess “Barefoot”
photos: mostly stock
birdcage: StudioQ “Blossom”
stitching: Shabby Princess “Plentiful”
font: ck Ali’s Hand
journaling:"My earliest memories of childhood include some exotic pet of some kind. Whether it was a python he found in our backyard, or some animal that was given to him as a gift, my dad was constantly bringing home some live creature. My most cherished memories of family pets are from the late 70s and early 80s, when we lived in Northern Thailand. I had a dog named Patches that I adored and a gibbon named Grover who was like a real live baby doll. Other creatures that found solace in our home included a civet cat, a pangolin, two slow lorises, parakeets, a flying squirrel, cats, dogs, betta fish, and hermit crabs."

Happy Birthday!!!

Figured that the 5th birthday of the DigiDares was reason enough for me to create another page. This was fun, but super time-consuming! So glad it's done :)
The theme this time was the number 5... whatever we wanted to scrap, with a few rules thrown in. My choice? The countries I've lived in - amazing that there are actually 5 of them!!

And here's the rules, regulations, and credits...
•You must use 5 papers (check) •You must use 5 fasteners (check) •You must use 5 different fonts or alphas (check) •You must use 5 (or more) colors (check) •(Optional) Use 5 photos or images to illustrate your list (stock photos ok) (check)
The majority of the page used elements from the kit "Moments Like This" by Captivated Visions and Micheline Martin
stitching was from Kristen Aagard's "Furbabies-Dogs"
alpha for COUNTRIES and HOME is from Julie Bullock's "Color Me Wild"
the various fonts I used for journaling and labeling are: CK Jot, CK Ali's Hand, and Another Typewriter
the pictures and maps were found through a Google image search

Halloween 2010 & a DigiDare

Our costumes from last year (2010) and this year's DigiDare #250...
We went as the "Black-Eyed Peas" ... are you sensing a theme? Too bad we didn't dress up this year; I was planning on going as the "Red Hot Chili Peppers." The costumes would have been a little bit more difficult to pull off, though :)

layout credits:
papers from Gina Miller, WM[squared], Ettes, and Mel Wilson
doodles from Kate Hadfield
ribbons from Amy Stoffel
ricrac from Jenny K
banner from Suzy Q Scraps
flowers from Gina Miller and Amy Stoffel

Halloween 2009

Our Halloween costumes from two years ago (2009)...
Yes, we really did go as "Salt and Pepper." Super easy costume to throw together when there are no thrift stores or Party Outlets around!

August Angst

My latest submission to the digidares :) The theme was to create a layout of something not too happy that happened this summer. This was the result of my animal-loving DD wanting to feed a wandering turtle we found behind our house. If she hadn't picked him up... he may not have nibbled at her tummy :) The sweetest thing is, even after it happened, she was more concerned about putting him down carefully and then coming in for some sympathy from Mommy and Daddy :)
