Halloween 2010 & a DigiDare

Our costumes from last year (2010) and this year's DigiDare #250...
We went as the "Black-Eyed Peas" ... are you sensing a theme? Too bad we didn't dress up this year; I was planning on going as the "Red Hot Chili Peppers." The costumes would have been a little bit more difficult to pull off, though :)

Halloween 2009

Our Halloween costumes from two years ago (2009)...
Yes, we really did go as "Salt and Pepper." Super easy costume to throw together when there are no thrift stores or Party Outlets around!

August Angst

My latest submission to the digidares :) The theme was to create a layout of something not too happy that happened this summer. This was the result of my animal-loving DD wanting to feed a wandering turtle we found behind our house. If she hadn't picked him up... he may not have nibbled at her tummy :) The sweetest thing is, even after it happened, she was more concerned about putting him down carefully and then coming in for some sympathy from Mommy and Daddy :)

St. Basil's Cathedral

In honor of the 450th anniversary of St. Basil's Cathedral (thank you, Google), I thought I'd post this layout I did with a picture of the cathedral in the background. I wanted to do a layout tributing my Russian heritage, and this is the perfect occasion to post it :)

DigiDares #220

Here we go again! I haven't done a dare in a few weeks, so thought it's about time to post something new...

Dare guidelines:
  • Just one photo! You can use that one photo multiple times if you’d like, but let’s just focus on one photo this week.
  • You must use a speech bubble of some sort and make up a funny caption for your photo.
  • Let’s try to go for a fun, whimsical feel so you must use all the colors of the rainbow somewhere on your layout (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet).
  • Dig into your fun & funky stash of elements – no fancy lace or dainty flowers here!
I used the Happy Go Lucky kit from Shabby Princess for this layout

Chill

Time for another DigiDare! (someday I'll upload some of my other layouts, but I'm having too much fun with the challenges right now) Here's the rules or guidelines:
what would you just love to do “to your heart’s content?”
run, swim, ski, read, bake, shop, scrap, or simply sleep the day away?
     Dare Flair:
since February is a short month with only 28 days this year
        * 2 photos and 8 elements are the minimum required
        * use contrasting colors and at least one patterned paper
        * title your page with your {theme} to your heart’s content

And so, with no further adieu...

2001: 9-11 (terrorist attack on New York)
2002: the Euro goes into effect
2003: SARS pandemic
2004: Asian tsunami
2005: Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans
2006: bird flu
2007: Virginia Tech massacre
2008: Thai political crisis
2009: H1N1 scare
2010: Haitian earthquake

Scrapper Bowl 2011

Had a ton of fun participating in some challenges at the Scrap Orchard Scrapper Bowl. (link for the gallery of amazing layouts: http://scraporchard.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1022) Here's the layouts I created for the various challenges:
This was the Northern Division Color Challenge.
We had to choose team colors and scrap a layout using ONLY those colors.
I chose the Pittsburgh Steelers: yellow, black, and white.
End Zone Template Challenge
We could choose to used the template provided, which I did.
Love that I have finally scrapped some pictures which have been sitting on my hard drive for years!
Blitz Clustering Challenge
Once again, we were provided with a template to get our juices flowing... gotta love the freebies!
Finally, the Offense-Defense Opposite Challenge
We had to scrap a layout about opposites... guess I needed to make the move across the world for this challenge :)

beginning ... again

ok, so here I go again. don't even want to confess how many other "new" blogs I've created in the past, only to forget what my username and/or password was. so, I'm starting fresh... hopefully I'll be able to gather some faithful readers to keep me accountable on keeping this blog up to date!!

my hopes & dreams for this blog? to post through layouts the chronicles of my life. here's the first to get the ball rolling:
